Our community is privileged to have received a Neighborhood Matching Grant in the amount of $14,260.00.
The program awards funds to eligible neighborhood-based organizations for projects that will make neighborhoods better places to live, work, play, and shop. The program helps strengthen neighborhood organizations, while encouraging increased neighborhood participation.
Our grant is being used to install water meters and irrigation systems to sustain the improvements we made to our entrance last year.
HOAs are considered commercial property for utility purposes, thus the cost of the 2 water meters alone is $4300.
The grant will also provide us with new entry lighting and the application of special reflective paint on the curbs, all of which will enhance our neighborhood identity and increase safety for our residents.
Grant recipients are required to match the funds given. Matches must be directly related to the project, and may be in the form of cash, volunteer labor, or in-kind donations. Some of our neighbors who are small business owners are contributing their services as in-kind donations in the amount of $3500. That leaves us with $3,630 to contribute.
That amounts to 176 hours of volunteer labor. A dozen of us have already contributed time – we welcome even more of you! Please consider joining with your neighbors to do improve the value of our entire neighborhood.
Contact me – Andi White 704.531.1646 – to pledge your fair share for this project and other projects we hope to get funding for in the near future.

National Night Out was a huge success and just continues to grow each year! We had so many activities and games to take part in! Cotton candy and snow cones made a gigantic splash! The Moon Bounce too (although they wouldn’t let me in due to a nasty rumor that I would not come out if they let me in!) was a non-stop excitement machine.
Please consider taking part in the event next year as a volunteer and lets continue to make McCarron one of the greatest little gems in our city!
If you happen to see Scott and Rhianne Orlinski out in the neighborhood, give them a special thanks. Scott has such a huge heart for his neighborhood and the folks that make it up. I can’t tell you how many hours he spends on this event but it is more than you want to know!
Thanks Everyone!
