-NEIGHBORHOOD CRIME WATCH UPDATE: Scott Orlinski and block captains gave an overview of crime reported in and around the neighborhood since August 2010. Residents were informed that crime was down 14% in the Hickory Grove region. Also, residents were told that police patrol has increased in our area and a difference in response time is quicker if someone calls 911. Each block captain gave an overview of the crime reported in their areas. Neighbors were encouraged to always report suspicious activity. Residents were given info needed to receive text messages concerning crime reported in the neighborhood: text “mccarron” to 35863 from your cell phone. Copies of the March 2011 McCarron Crime Watch newsletter were available. Residents were also asked to update their household info if needed and to submit the form to their designated block captain incase of an emergency.
-NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: The next neighborhood National Night Out is scheduled for August 2nd at 7:30pm. Its purpose is to raise awareness and create a sense of community. The event is sponsored by Target. Residents can get more information about the event in the crime watch newsletter or online.
-WATER UPDATE: With our current well water we have 50 to 60 lbs of pressure. City water has increased pressure – 80 to 100 lbs – For this reason, Brett invited Dean Inkelaar, President and Owner of AAA City Plumbing, Inc to speak with the residents about the importance of having their pipes/water meter/pressure valve inspected before the neighborhood conversion to city water takes place in June 2011. Dean gave a detailed presentation outlining possible costs, hazards, and precautions homeowners may want to take in order to make sure their current installation is appropriate for city water pressure. Residents were told that the city would not be responsible for any damages occurring to the home as a result of the conversion.
-BUDGET/TREASURER REPORT: John Anderson gave residents an overview of expenditures for the 2011 McCarron budget as well as an update on outstanding HOA dues. Liens will be placed on homes when homeowners are late and have made no efforts to pay dues.
-ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD REPORT/Covenants at a Glance: Residents were given a snapshot of essential bylaws. Andi highlighted violations and encouraged residents in attendance to do their part to report violations as well as to adhere by the laws established for the safety and upkeep of the neighborhood. Letters will be sent to residents that violate bylaws and appropriate actions and/or efforts will be made by the ARB and board members of the HOA to ensure that all homeowners are in compliance.
-PROPOSALS/CONCERNS From the Floor: 1) Can we pay off the outstanding lights, have Duke Power remove them, and request that the city bring in lights on the wooden poles? 2) Can we start community building activities and/or clubs to increase morale: dog walkers, bike riders, runners, gardening, community yard sale, etc? 3) Is there it a “do-it-yourself” option for the installation of the pressure release valve needed for the city water conversion?
-GENERAL INFO: Work will be completed to enhance the front entrance.
